Join us and experience the difference a day can make.  The last Saturday of each April, thousands of volunteers, just like YOU, equipped with donated materials from area businesses, just like YOURS, spend the day improving our community one-house-at-a-time.

Yes, many hands make light work... we have a job for everyone!  We have so many opportunities for YOU, your civic group, church, youth group, school, or business to get involved.

Team Building Experience
Looking for an alternative to those expensive retreats?  We offer your employees or group a unique team building experience, here, in your own back yard.  Your executive staff can spend the day with the support staff working side-by-side towards a common goal of team building while achieving a greater goal of improving the hearts and homes of our elderly homeowners.

Sponsor A Home
Your organization's tax deductible gift of $1,500.00 covers the costs of materials needed for the workday, but not donated.  A Home Sponsor sign is proudly displayed in the front yard of the homeowner on the workday.  Photos and acknowledgement of your business sponsorship will appear on our website and all of our publications.

In Kind Donations
Would you like to donate money or supplies?  We need your help too!  Your tax deductible gift is greatly appreciated, and without it we could not complete our goal.

Homeowners
If you know a senior that could use a helping hand with their home down load the application or contact us for more information.

I just wanted you to know how grateful I am for all the work that's being done... I'm just really excited.  I can't do it all myself."
- A quote from one of the many senior citizen homeowners helped by Christmas in Action and its army of volunteers.

Volunteers
Without the valuable donation of time that our volunteers make this undertaking would not be possible.  Large groups of volunteers are more than welcome.  An individual that is willing to work as the "point person" for your group needs to contact Christmas In Action of Oakland County, Inc.  This person will help to assure that your group has a positive and lasting Christmas In Action experience.  Download the volunteer application now!  We welcome young adults 12 years and older.  However, for those volunteers under the age of 18 years a parental consent form must be completed and turned in prior to the workday.  Download the Parental Consent form here or contact us at (248) 618-7433 for more information.

House Captains - We are anxious to mentor new captains with an experienced captain your first year.
* Needs to be highly skilled or licensed.
* Visits the house and prepares material list (after February).
* Assists with soliciting donations.
* Supervise and complete work on the workday.
* Wrap up after workday.

"I like to be a House Captain because I find it heart warming to see so many people gather together for a day and work to help a complete stranger.  It renews your faith in your fellow man."
- Sue Camilleri, House Captain

Site Coordinators - One at each house.  You assist the House Captain before, during, and after the workday.
* Coordinate all paperwork at the job site.
* Coordinate all volunteers on the workday.
* Coordinate your helpers (runners, photographer, & cook) on workday.

Volunteers - Approximately 50 volunteers are assigned to each house.  Skilled Trades People are always needed and we are overwhelmed with their generosity each year.  Unskilled Volunteers are always welcome, all that is needed is a willingness and a little elbow-grease to get the job done.  Many hands can make light work, if you do any minor carpentry work, can paint, enjoy yard work, or push a broom... we have a job for YOU!
