Absent voter ballots are scheduled to be delivered to the Township by September 22, 2008. We will mail as soon as possible thereafter.

Holly Township will have Local Proposal on the ballot asking if the electors wish to add two additional Trustees to represent you on the Holly Board of Trustees per MCL 168.358 which states the following:

In Townships having a population of 5,000 or more, or having 3,000 or more qualified and registered electors as shown by registration records at the close of registration for the November election, four trustees may be elected (MCL 168.358(4). The four trustees shall be elected at the first regular township election held after the additional trustees have been authorized.

Thequestion of additional trustees must be voted on at the first township general election following compliance with the township's population or voter qualification. Holly Township met the voter qualification at the 2006 general election and is therefor by law asking the electors if they wish to be represented by two additional trustees.

As the name "Trustee" implies, a trustee is an individual placed in a position of public trust with fiduciary responsibilities to manage the affairs of the township for the best interests of the public. The trustee has the responsibility to attend township board meetings and participate in decisions and deliberations.
